Hi, my name is Asano Tamaki, Director of NZ design.  Here at NZ design, we are passionate about getting the best quality New Zealand made furniture for our customers. 

My passion for furniture all started with my search for the ideal bedroom suite when I first got married.  I knew exactly what I wanted, but I just could not find what I liked even after visiting multiple shops and looking through a number of home magazines...  I was also looking for something made in New Zealand.  That made the mission even more difficult...  Retail shops were filled with imported furniture and a small selection of New Zealand made pieces.  I got too frustrated and eventually decided to design my own and get it made.  Since then, I have added other pieces of furniture to our home, all selected very carefully.  My policy is not to buy anything unless I love it!

As I just said, I found it very hard to search for New Zealand made furniture.  A lot of retail shops have some but not a lot...  Quite a few friends of mine expressed the same problem.  There are a lot of people wanting to buy New Zealand made who end up having to visit multiple shops.  That is why I've decided to open a shop that specialises in New Zealand made furniture.  NZ design is a "one stop shop" for those who are looking for high quality New Zealand made furniture.  I am endeavouring to add more and more pieces in time.  So, please check the site regularly for new items!

About Our Furniture:

NZ design offers a selection of furniture made from quality solid Pine, Rimu and Oak which are all designed and manufactured in New Zealand. 

All products are manufactured to the highest standards, using traditional methods of dowels and glue for strength and durability.  Each piece is carefully finished, using oil based stains and pre-catalysed lacquers, the best quality finishes available from Mirotone Coatings, PPG, and other leading suppliers in the wood finishing markets in New Zealand.  The result is not only a beautiful finish but also great durability.
